Tom Welling: Super-manly!

Sunday, 30 January 2011 4 comments

Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, not to mention able to leap off tall buildings in a single bound, is it a bird? is it a plane? No, silly, it's Superman! Could a girl want anymore? I think not. Yes here he is, Tom Welling our Smallville superhunk. So what if he doesn't wear his underpants over his trousers on the show, that can only be a good thing right? Although, I'm secretly imagining him in some super tight Lycra, flying around doing whatever it is that Supermen do.

I give credit to a man, who can still look manly in soft focus, so here's to you Big "S", you sexy superdude.

Why Men Are Like Cheese

Why cheese you ask? Well... One, it's the first thing that popped into my head when staring at this scary blank blogger box and two, because they just are, i thought it so it must be true, like that dream i had where i swallowed paint, that was true too.

Anyway back to the whole men are cheeses fact.

  • Cheese is sort of a fungus right? A type of mold that someone happened to eat one day and thought, "Hey this stuff smells bad but it goes nicely with my cracker." Well that's kind of like a man, even if he annoys the crap out of you the majority of the time, there will come a day when you'll need said man to make everything else a bit better. Men like this grow on you, like mold, mold = cheese. You following?
  • Cheese smells like feet, men have smelly feet, well men can be smelly in general, you can see the connection.
  • Cheese also goes well with wine, women drink a lot of wine, bring a man into the equation and you have drunken wine woman and smelly cheese man getting it on. Have i convinced you yet?
  • There's one kind of cheese that has these icky blue veins, what else has icky veins?... nope I'm not even going there.
  • You can get holy cheese, no, not the kind that Jesus eats, just cheese with holes. Kind of an incomplete and imperfect cheese. Have you ever found the perfect man who completes you? Nope? You see my argument.
  • Last but by no means least, cheese takes a long time to mature, so do men. Case closed.

Birthday Celebrations and Blog Award!

Apologies for this extremely long marathon of a post, I'm making up for lost time.

I bet you've been wondering where I've been? Yes I've neglected this blog the past week or so. I know, shame on me. It was my Birthday a few days ago and i took a little break from blogging. Besides, between all the birthday brouhaha and work there's been little time to do anything else. Anyways I'm back now and I'm going to try to make an effort to write more often.

My birthday celebrations consisted of a night out with girls, one of whom made me two awesome birthday balloons complete with my face stuck on the front. I tied one to my wrist. Unfortunately a freak gust of wind blew my helium friend high into atmosphere. Gutted. So my friend had to loan me her birthday bud balloon, which was equally fantastic. Ten unknown drinks later and i was a mess, stumbling around like a teen with a bottle of Lambrini. It's a wonder my friends put up with me. I'm such a lightweight when it comes to alcohol. Dear friends i love you.

Now onto the blog award...

Another unexpected birthday gift came in the form of a blog award from Jewels over at Turning 30. Her blog is one of my favourite reads so i was chuffed she thought of me (especially on my birthday). Thanks Jewels.

This blog award comes at a price though, oh yes! A lengthy questionnaire about moi. Enjoy...

Rules:
1. Thank the person (people) that gave you the award.

2. Answer 10 survey questions.

3. Pass along the award to bloggers you think are fantastic.

4. Let those bloggers know you have given them an award.

So, here goes. My answers to the questions...

1. If you blog anonymously, are you happy about doing this? If you aren't anonymous, do you wish that you had started out anonymously, so you could be anonymous now?
I blog under a pen name so i guess that's anonymous. It only bothers me when i feel like i can't write about certain things. However i find it reassuring that i can write without fear of what people will think, or worrying that my work colleagues will stumble across my blog. In some ways it allows my writing to be less inhibited.

2. Describe the incident that shows your stubborn side.
Both my parents are stubborn which means that i was blessed with a double dose of it. No one particular moment stands out, probably because my stubbornness is part of my everyday personality; it keeps me going when others give up.

3.What do you see when you really look into the mirror?
I see someone who knows a lot but doesn't always know how to put it into practice.

4. What is your favorite cold summer drink?
Fresh orange juice poured into a plastic bottle and left in the freezer for an hour. It's a winner when it starts melting!

5. When you take time for yourself, what do you do?
Time? For myself? I never seem to have enough time these days, which admittedly is my own fault. I have one of those brains that just doesn't switch off. I find it really hard to justify doing nothing, always feeling the need to be productive. My spare time is taken up by writing, painting, drawing, designing, and reading. No wonder I'm a tad worn out!

6. Is there something you still want to accomplish in your life?
There are so many things i still want to do or achieve, too many to name. Top of my list for 2011 is to work for myself. I've never liked working for other people, being told when i can eat or take a break, it's like school. It's not that i have a problem with authority, just a problem with having restricted freedom. Besides i don't like the fact that i work only to make other people more rich, when i could be making myself rich.

7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the overachiever, the shy person, or always ditching?
I was a mixture of all of the above. I started out shy and overachieving, then as the years progressed i started to develop a real sense of self, a personality and individuality that didn't conform to school rules. I went a bit "wild child" for a time, but i soon knuckled back down before the exams began.

8. If you closed your eyes and wanted to visualize a very poignant moment in your life, what would you see?
It would probably be the first time i realised i could draw... like really draw. I was in Primary school (elementary) when i first discovered a love for sketching. We had to draw bugs and insects for a class project. I finished my drawing and presented it to the teacher, she was a little shocked and praised me for the likeness to reality. This was when i decided i wanted to do something creative with my life. It was the root of my career choice i guess.

9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog, or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people and events?
I'm definitely more comfortable writing about other events than about my own life, i have no idea why.

10. If you had a choice to sit down and read a book or talk on the phone, which would you do and why?
I'd read. I have never really been one for talking on the phone, it seems impersonal to me; I'd rather have a face to face conversation. Plus there's the fact that anybody can contact me whenever, wherever, it's kind of annoying.

Onto the winners...

Pushing thirty: I really enjoy reading this blog, this girl has a great sense of humour and a nice writing style.
Adventures in Yayaland: I've been reading this blog for a while now but lately I'm really loving it.
Daterview: This is another dating blog which has me hooked.

Take the award and spread the love.

Why Men Go to Strip Clubs

Sunday, 9 January 2011 15 comments

For us women the idea of their man attending some backstreet perv parlour is just disgusting. Just the thought of some half naked, greased up, lap dancer waving her over inflated beach ball breasts in our man's face repulses us. But should it?

Some would argue that it's a man's basic instinct to look at attractive women, that may be correct but does that means he should actively seek it out, by going to a bar where the Panty Dropper isn't just the name of a cocktail?

Let's turn the situation around. Your friend offers you tickets to go see the Chippendale's waggle their hunky man pecks and stride around in less than a g-string, would you turn them down? Probably not, and this has less to do with perving at men, than it would be a fun night out with the girls right?

So why do men go to strip clubs?
They go to see attractive women naked. It's as simple as that. It's a guilt free way to perv at women. Those breast aren't attached to a nagging wife or girlfriend, they're attached to a woman who has no real identity, she is an object of lust, nothing more, and men like it that way. They don't have to take Candy Luscious Legs home or look after her when shes ill, she won't tell him she's too tired or nag him about the washing up. She will continue strutting her stuff until the cash runs out.

It also has a lot to do with power, these days men don't have much control over the women in their lives, us women do what we want and when we want. In a strip club the men feel like they have power, the more money they throw the better the show.

Yes going to a strip club is trashy, seedy and we'd rather not allow it, but can we really be mad at him? Probably yes, but it's lot less worse than him going to normal bar and being chatted up by various women who are prowling for a man, where he has the option to take it further. The strippers aren't interested in stealing your man, oh no Barbara Big Breasts doesn't want to steal what's in his pants, just what's in his wallet.

What are your thoughts? Would you be angry if your man visited a strip club?

Someone get this boy a hose before he spontaneously combusts.

Looking like he stepped straight off the catwalk, Alex Pettyfer is hotter than a forest fire in June. You probably know him for playing Alex Rider the teen spy movie Stormbreaker. Well now he's all grown up and looking nicely put together if you ask me. If you're not wishing you could get your hands on this prime steak right now, there's something wrong with you.

If you like Twilight, You'll love this...

Sunday, 2 January 2011 6 comments

Have you had enough of Vampires and werewolves but still lust after a great read like Twilight? Well i have just the thing to wet your supernatural appetite.

Fallen is the first book in a proposed quartet by author Lauren Kate. It's love story, a mystery, and much, much more. It's a story about a forbidden love between Lucinda (a mysterious mortal) and Daniel (a fabulous angel). I won't spoil the story for you all, but if you liked Twilight then chances are you will love this, it keeps you guessing throughout.

The next book in the series has just come out and is called Torment. Here's the trailer, (slightly wimpish looking angel wings aside), it's a pretty good read.

Click Here for The Fallen Book's website

If you have already read these books let me know what you thought below.

Where To Get Free Celebrity Images For My Blog? Help!!!

Today has brought Guys, Boys & Men some very bad news indeed. I logged onto blogger to write a new post, only to find that the image provider i have been using has stopped providing free images! I have been using picapp for a good while now as a source for legal celebrity photos for my blog, and now they have shut the service down. Not cool picapp. Not cool.

What am i going to do now huh? No more Hollywood hunks? No more famous hotties? I'm weeping into my keyboard right now. I need you, my lovely followers to help me out, are there any other FREE alternatives out there? How do you get hold of free images? Please let me know by leaving a comment.
